Who can join? Any student at Edison Preparatory School (Middle School or High School), Council Oak Elementary School, Eliot Elementary School, Patrick Henry Elementary School, Lanier Elementary School, Mayo Demonstration Academy, Eisenhower International School, or Zarrow International School.

If your school does not have a team, Edison is happy to bring you into our team until such time a team is introduced.

What Ages? Any TPS Student Pre-k through 12th Grade

What does a rider need to wear? The rider needs to wear pants, long sleeve shirts, and flat soled shoes (think Vans or Converse) to practice. Team members will be provided a race jersey to wear during practice and races.

What equipment does a rider need? The rider will be required to wear a full face helmet and a BMX Race Bicycle. There are loaners available at the track on a first come, first serve basis.

If my child already rides BMX and is on another team, can they join this team? No, if they join Edison BMX Team, they cannot be a member of another BMX team. The only exception to this rule are experienced riders who help coach at team practices. Those riders may coach and race for the Edison BMX team.

What is the time commitment of the team? We are blessed to have a home track like Hardesty National BMX Stadium. They are offering the TPS teams the opportunity to practice at the track on Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 4 PM to 5:45 PM. This is required for new riders. It is strongly recommended from any Novice rider.

As a team member, you are committing to two race days a month at a minimum. We also expect all team members to attend State races, as this is how the state champion will be determined. New riders will not have required races until May. Returning riders start required races in April.

Required races are the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. Those days may be changed with permission. Please see Coach Carmon to get your mandatory race days changed. Mandatory races must occur at Hardesty National BMX Stadium. Their race days are Thursday evenings or Saturday late mornings.
