BMX is an Amazing Family Sport for Tulsa Public Schools Students & Families

BMX, or Bicycle Motocross, is more than just a sport; it’s a lifestyle that brings families together in a fun and engaging way. Here are some reasons why BMX is a fantastic family sport:

1. All Ages and Abilities Welcome BMX is a sport that anyone can pick up at any time, regardless of age or skill level. From toddlers to grandparents, everyone can participate in BMX. This inclusiveness makes it a perfect activity for families to enjoy together.

The TPS BMX teams have a Rad Dad’s racing team for all dads, uncles or grandparents of riders. Moto Moms racing team for all moms, aunts, or grandmothers. We even have Edison Alumni riders for those who previously attended the TPS school. Siblings that are not in pre-k are welcome to join with a TPS Team jersey although they won’t be on the official roster.

2. Affordable and Accessible Unlike many sports that require expensive equipment, BMX is relatively affordable. All you need is a bike, helmet, long pants, and a long-sleeve shirt to get started. Hardesty National BMX tracks even offer loaner equipment, making it easy for families to try out the sport without a significant financial investment.

The amazing sponsors of the TPS BMX programs allow for the purchase of affordable entry level BMX race bikes and accessories. Talk to TPS BMX Team officials for the websites and discount codes for use.

3. Encourages Physical Fitness BMX is a high-intensity activity that provides an excellent full-body workout. It combines cardio with strength training, helping family members stay fit and healthy while having fun.  Speeding around tracks makes exercise enjoyable and engaging.

The goal of the TPS BMX teams is to get kids out of the house, on bikes, and in a fun race environment where they can win trophies for their hard work! Some kids love to ride bikes and come to BMX for the social aspect.

4. Builds Sportsmanship and Community BMX fosters a positive and supportive community. Riders tend to be encouraging and helpful, creating a welcoming environment for newcomers. This sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship is beneficial for children and adults alike, teaching valuable life skills and building lasting friendships.

The feedback from TPS BMX parents is that the sportsmanship of the teams were amazing and they wanted their rider to continue.

5. Flexible Participation One of the best aspects of BMX racing is its flexibility. Families can choose to race as often or as little as they like, making it easy to fit into busy schedules. Whether you want to race every weekend or just occasionally, BMX accommodates your lifestyle.

Requirements for the TPS teams includes practice twice a week and racing on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month. Riders that wish to ride more often are certainly welcome to race more than the minimum race days.

6. Fun for Everyone At its core, BMX is about having fun. The thrill of riding, the excitement of competition, and the joy of spending time together make BMX a fantastic family activity. It’s a great way to bond, create memories, and enjoy the outdoors together.

TPS BMX is a sport that offers numerous benefits for families. It’s inclusive, affordable, and promotes physical fitness, sportsmanship, and fun. So, grab your helmets and bikes, and head to Hardesty National BMX Stadium for an unforgettable family adventure!
